A Man’s Best Friend – Pet Photography in Payson, AZ

This is my first blog post!  Yay!  I had the joy of photographing my husband, Josh, and our dog Stormy at one of our favorite camping destinations.  Every summer, we take an annual camping trip to the Mogollon Rim in Payson, Arizona.  Stormy has been camping there since she was a puppy.  We have so many wonderful memories there, it made sense to make a few more.

When we bought our first house, the first thing Josh wanted was an Australian Shepard.  I was going to get him a puppy for Christmas, but he could not wait.  He looked at pictures of puppies for months until he finally broke me down and I agreed to get a puppy early if it was the right one.

He found a breeder we liked, and we drove for over an hour to the Australian Shepard breeder’s house to choose a puppy.  When he entered the puppy pen, half the puppies were not interested in us and the other half wanted to bite our shoes and ankles.  Josh squatted down in the pen of puppies.  While most of the puppies were still interested in his shoes, Stormy jumped up and nibbled on his goatee.  At that moment, he knew she was the one for him.

Through the years, their instant bond has only grown stronger.  When they are not playing Frisbee or hide and seek in the backyard, they are cuddling and kissing on the couch.  Stormy will do anything Josh asks of her.  She may bark in protest, but I think that is secretly Josh’s favorite part.

For our photo session, we found a trail near our regular campsite and hiked back into the woods.  Stormy had a blast smelling and exploring everything.  Josh had a wonderful time watching her have so much fun.  Neither of them protested when I made them pause the hike to take pictures of them cuddling and exchanging kisses.
