Grace and Trevor are one of the winners of my engagement session giveaway!  They won an engagement session at one of my favorite new locations: The White Tanks.  They are the first couple I have gotten to photograph in this location, and I know they will not be the last!  I absolutely love the views of the desert and the mountain range behind them.  It is a combo that simple cannot be beat.  And all of my fellow West Siders will be glad to know that the Superstitions is not the only spot for epic desert views.

Michelle and Daniel chose a location I have never been to before for their engagement session: The Mesa Arts Center. I had been in the area before (attending many a concerts at The Nile a block away), but never the arts center. After some heavy creeping the location on Google, I was so excited! They were drawn to the arts center because of its more modern look. I loved the industrial concrete walls that were sprinkled with pops of color and greenery. It was the best of both worlds!

Ashley and Dan met through mutual friends in San Diego.  They may have different accounts about how they first met, but one things is for sure, they are so glad that they did.  They love doing everything together: from traveling to camping to their annual trip to San Diego where they met.  Over the past five years they have built a life together with their Shepard mix Lucy and their son Abraham.

Cheslyne and Shane’s Flagstaff engagement session was absolutely magical.  They knew that they wanted to escape the summer heat and enjoy the beauty of Northern Arizona for their session.  We decided on a sunrise session on the Campbell Mesa Loop Trail.  So, with Dutch Bros in hand, I left the valley at a brisk 3:00 AM to head up the mountain to the trailhead.  And it was so worth it!  There is just something so magical about the rays from the morning sun shining through the pine trees.

As a wedding photographer, I think engagement sessions are an absolute must before your wedding.  So much so, that I have photographed an engagement session just two days before a wedding because the groom lived in Ireland!  But once you have done an engagement session, what do you do with the photos?  There are actually a lot of fun options!  Here are some of my favorites.

Andrea and Matt’s engagement session was at one of my favorite places: Papago Park.  We scheduled this June session close to sunset so that we can have the amazing summer vibes without dying in the heat.  And Arizona did not disappoint.  There is a beautiful summer glow on these two throughout the session.  And, my favorite part of summer, the evening breeze that made Andrea’s dress dance.

For Venyse & Melvin’s engagement session, we went to one of my tried and true spots: Roosevelt Row.  I always love going down to Roosevelt Row because it is ever changing.  In fact, we saw a new mural being painted while we were taking their engagement photos!  There is always something new to find in this wonderful arts district.

For Lindsay & Kyle’s engagement session they took me to somewhere I have never been before: Anthem Park.  I am always excited to check out new locations and this was no exception.  One of the things that drew them to this park was this wonderful waterfall (which is such a gem in Arizona!).  I got there a little early to scope out the park and I was not disappointed.  It was the weekend, so there were a ton of families there.  But once we got to the other side of the lake, there was a world of opportunity for their pictures.

For Cassandra and Matt’s engagement session, we went to one of my favorite spots: Roosevelt Row.  They were looking for a little mix of everything that the art-district has to offer.  We started the session a little more casual, walking around to find the art murals that caught our eye. After we made a small circle, it was time for an outfit change.  Cassandra had the cutest flower dress for her second outfit!  That inspired me and we went straight for my favorite green wall just off Roosevelt.  I always make a point to photograph in new areas of my tried and true locations.  So, after my fav green wall, we headed down the street to an art mural I always see, but have not photographed yet.  And of course they are some of my favorite images from the session!  (Of course, I may be a little partial to the pretty blues that was behind them!)

Corie & Joe met in high school through a mutual friend and have been together for 16 years!  They just got engaged last year and are ready to celebrate their marriage with their three kids.  They love going to concerts and taking family vacations together.  When we first met, they were getting ready for a family trip to Disneyland!  (These two are defiantly after my own heart!)

For Corie & Joe’s engagement session, they took me to Gilbert’s Heritage District.  Being from the West side of town, I do not head out to Gilbert often and have never been to the Heritage District.  I was pretty excited to check out the new area and see what amazing photo opportunities awaited.  Corie & Joe love going to the Heritage District for the amazing restaurants that are there.  As we explored the are they shared with me their favorite spots to eat.  And they are not the only ones that go there for the food.  By the end of our morning session, the sidewalks were crowded with people waiting for tables at the various restaurants.  I am so glad we got there early!
