Lizzy and Andy won an engagement session with me! I wanted to find a way for us to keep cool during this summer engagement. So, I thought an ice cream parlor would be perfect! I choose Petersen’s Ice Cream & Cafe because it had that classic ice cream parlor feel. It is also a small, family owned business, which is always a bonus! When we met at Petersen’s in Downtown Gilbert, Lizzy realized that Petersen’s is from Chicago. She was super excited, because she is also from Chicago. They even had a “Chicago Pothole” ice cream flavor.
April and Dustin’s engagement session was at Cathedral Rock in Sedona. They knew that they wanted to travel up to Sedona for their engagement session. I was so excited when they choose Cathedral Rock for their location. The views of the red rocks of the Sedona valley are so epic here! There are amazing views of Cathedral Rock. But, you can also see The Mermaid, Courthouse Vista, and a bit of Bell Rock! It is the perfect location for an epic engagement session without too much of a crazy adventure.
Megan & Sam’s engagement session was at one of the Salt River lakes, Saguaro Lake. They wanted a location in the desert that had more than just cacti. So, what better place than one of the Salt River lakes?! They chose Saguaro Lake because they wanted a mix of desert, water, and canyons. Saguaro Lake delivered on all accounts! They chose to do a sunrise session to help beat the summer heat. (And we also beat the crowds of people headed to the lake!)
Briar and Colton’s engagement session was epic to say the least. When they asked about doing their engagement session at Horseshoe Bend I was beyond excited. They chose this location for the amazing views and because it reminded Briar of Paradise Falls from Up! They even brought some giant balloons to give a Disney hint to their engagement session. (It was pretty windy so the balloons didn’t make it to “the falls”, but we made sure to get some pictures with them before our hike!) It was all of our first time to Horseshoe Bend and made for an amazing memory for all of us!
Jessica and Kirk fell in love with The Nile during a visit to Arizona. When they mentioned it to me as a potential spot for their engagement session, I was super excited. I spend many nights in the basement of the Nile with my husband attending concerts. Many of which, his band played. So, this is a super sentimental spot for me. Adding sprinkles to this already amazing Sunday, they just updated the front of the coffee shop! It is now super cute and was giving me some Paris bistro vibes. (Full disclosure, I have never been to Paris…)
For Caitlin and Ryan’s engagement session, we headed to one of my favorite spots, Roosevelt Row. We met up at Jobot where Ryan was able to sneak in a quick drink before we started their session. The Palo Verde trees were in full bloom, so I could not resist starting our session there. Then we continued to explore the arts district stopping at any art murals or industrial architecture that caught our eye. We ended our session at one of my favorite greenery walls!
Heather and Nick love exploring new restaurants and coffee shops. So, when I suggested Roosevelt Row as a possible spot for their engagement session, they went to explore downtown Phoenix. They scoped out a few great new spots for their session. We started at this cool bar Bitter and Twisted cocktail parlor. After a quick drink, we walked over to an awesome staircase near The Arrogant Butcher. Then we jumped in the car to head over to Jobot!
Jillian and Jospeh hit the Spring jackpot for their engagement session at Thunderbird Mountain. The Palo Verde trees where crazy in bloom, much like these two are crazy in love! This was their first time to Thunderbird Park. This is a fav hiking spot of mine, so it was a blast showing them around to all my secret photo spots! We started our session in the blooming Palo Verdes and then found our way into a wash. Once the sun started to set a bit more, we hiked up the mountain for some amazing desert views.
Grace and Trevor are one of the winners of my engagement session giveaway! They won an engagement session at one of my favorite new locations: The White Tanks. They are the first couple I have gotten to photograph in this location, and I know they will not be the last! I absolutely love the views of the desert and the mountain range behind them. It is a combo that simple cannot be beat. And all of my fellow West Siders will be glad to know that the Superstitions is not the only spot for epic desert views.
Misty and Chris are fellow ‘West Siders’. So, it was an easy decision to have their engagement session at Sahuaro Ranch. This historic ranch is one of my favorite spots on the West side of Phoenix. The vintage ranch buildings with the amazing red brick. The orange groves that are always green all year long. And the peacocks and ranch cats that like to make an appearance in photos every now and then. There truly is a little something for everyone.
