I'm Amber, a Harry Potter obsessed wedding and brand photographer for those who are anything but ordinary based in Phoenix, Arizona.
When I don't have a camera in my hand, you can find me hiking with my husband, snuggling pups, or planning my next Disney trip.
The best Halloween treat? Pumpkin seeds. (Just kidding, it is for sure the candy!) But I do love carving pumpkins and making homemade pumpkin seeds. Here is Arizona, it is still pretty warm towards the end of October, so our pumpkins do not last long. We are usually carving them the day before or the day of Halloween. So, making my own pumpkin seeds lets me keep the magic alive for just a little longer.
Sometimes, you just don’t have time to make it to the gym. Or maybe you are new to this working out thing and don’t have a gym membership. The former is what happened for my husband and I recently. We were planning on going to the gym, but just didn’t have the time to squeeze in the drive and an entire workout. The weather is lovely here in Arizona, so we headed out into the backyard to sneak in a quick workout. After some body weight exercise, we took the dogs out on a quick walk around the neighborhood. (And then planned to hit the gym the next morning, because my husband is a gym rat!) At the end our of workout, we decided it was a great date night! So I wanted to share my tips for a great backyard workout while the weather is still amazing.
Not many people know this, but my husband and I basically grew up going to concerts together. When I met him in high school, he was a guitarist in a local band, which was actively playing shows. Add to those to all of the other concerts we were attending and it seemed like we were always watching a band somewhere. There was one week I remember we went to three concerts! In honor of the countless nights we spent at concerts, I bring you: Concert Date Night.
When my husband and I were dating, we didn’t have a whole lot of money. We were teenagers both working part time jobs making minimum wage after all. So most of our dates ran on the cheap end of things. We spent many nights just walking around the park together. Didn’t cost a dime. So another favorite date of our was going to the bookstore. The cost was gas and maybe some coffee if we were splurging! Our favorite bookstore was Boarders. Sadly, they are no more, but we found ways to incorporate reading dates into our life without our favorite bookstore. In honor of our love of reading, here are some ideas for various date nights involving reading!

You may have noticed that I am a bit obsessed with Harry Potter! If you have not, let me bring you up to speed: my wedding and honeymoon was Harry Potter themed, I got two hours of sleep to go to the midnight showing of Deathly Hallows Part II, I have 4 Harry Potter related tattoos, and my house has a cupboard under the stairs! My husband and I watch the Harry Potter movies almost non-stop in the month of November. But it has been a while since we sat down and watched them all in order (we tend to fall asleep on the couch if we watch anything in the evenings). So, this weekend we are planning a Harry Potter movie marathon!
As the valley of the sun heats up, we continue to look for ways to escape the heat. A popular way to do this is with a day trip up to Flagstaff! If you are unfamiliar with Flagstaff, it is a cute little city in Northern Arizona. It is the home to NAU and growing fast! I have watched as trendy businesses have started opening up shop here, like Chipotle, Whole Foods, and Pita Jungle. But there are still plenty of little mom and pop places around to give it that small town feel. So here are my tips for making the most out of a day trip to the beautiful pines of Flagstaff.
